Spanish Day - Pinata

We finished of the day by visiting the Nursery. The children all had a go at hitting the pinata to make the sweets fall out.

Spanish Day - Food tasting!

Children has the opportunity to taste a variety of Spanish food; bread sticks, olives, Spanish salami, and Spanish chocolate biscuits.

Spanish Day - Face Painting

We painted some Spanish flags of our own too!

Mrs Horton came in and painted our faces! Some of us chose the Spanish flag, others had a curl and some of the boys had a moustache!

Spanish Day - Sangria (alcohol free)

We enjoyed drinking the Sangria. It was made by the Junior children - and tasted delicious! Very refeshing on such a hot day.

Spanish Day

We watched the Spanish dancer. She taught us how do flamenco dancing. We loved her beautiful dress.

We do like to be beside the seaside......

The children had a fantastic day at Southend on Sea. They were a credit to the school. They had fun dipping their toes in the sea and making sandcastles. They enjoyed eating ice creams and went for a walk to the park. Everyone had a smile on their face! The lady that sold us ice creams was so impressed with the behaviour and the manners of our children that she send us a postcard which we received today. She thought everyone looked so smart in their uniforms. A great day was had by all.

Seasides

Welcome back after half term. I hope you all had a good rest. We've had a busy week this week learning about seasides, practising our addition skills and setting up our beach side cafe.
We learned how to say some 'Seaside' words in Spanish; mar (sea) pez (fish) concha (shell) and playa (beach). See if your children can show you how to pronounce these words correctly.

'Cheeeeeese'

Don't our paper mache masks look fabulous!

Starsnappers.

The children had a go at being photographers and models this week as part of the Starsnappers Project. They wore hats and showed off the masks that they had spent so long making. They had the opportunity to take pictures of themselves by pressing a button on a long lead. At the end of the session they were able to view all the photographs as a slide show on the big screen. They really enjoyed the experience.

Happy St George's Day!

The children all heard the story of St George today. See if they can retell it to you.
They also made George cross flags to celebrate.

Africa

The children have transformed the outdoor area into an African village. Take a look at the pictures to see what they have been up to.

Mask making

Welcome back to a new school term, I hope you all had a good rest!

The children have been busy all week working on their masks for the star snappers project. Their work links in with 'International week' where they have been learning about Africa - with a focus on carnival. The masks were made by the children from paper mache. They then painted them with a base colour and decorated them with a repeat pattern, glitter and feathers. Watch this space to see the 'Carnival' pictures next week!

The Chicks have arrived......

It's been a very exciting week with the arrival of our chicks. We have 11 healthy chicks ranging in colour. The children have enjoyed observing them, writing about them, painting them, and drawing out the life cycle of a chicken.
